The Little Lady’s Leftovers On A Stick Bento:
Thai Plum Pork Sausage and Cheese on Skewers, Teriyaki Fried Rice, Bell Pepper Slices, Grapes. Stored in an Easy Lunchbox System.
Last night, I participated in a Google+ Hangout and chatted up school lunches and bentos.
Or, I think I talked about those things… it’s all kind of a blur since I was nervous and rambled and rambled and rambled.
And rambled some more and then might have obliquely made a slightly off-color joke about men and their affinity for sticks.
Yeah — probably not my finest moment but, believe it or not, it inspired today’s bento.
During my chat with Leah Segedie and the Mamavation crowd, she and I both talked our children (specifically boys) being willing to eat ANYTHING skewered on a stick.
And, it’s true — meat, cheese, vegetables, fruit — it doesn’t matter what you serve. If I make a kebob using one of our food picks, my son thinks it’s the greatest. thing. ever.
Boys. They like sticks, swords, and skewered food.
They’re just born that way.
p.s. The ORIGINAL idea of sending leftovers came from Momables. It’s a great site I came across last year and I have since started working with Laura, the site creator. She provides recipes, lunch ideas and even has a lunch menu planning service available (I have a giveaway for it coming soon). Check it out!
Mr. Boy’s Leftovers On A Stick Bento:
Thai Plum Pork Sausage and Cheese on Skewers, Teriyaki Fried Rice, Carrot Slices (crinkle cut thanks to my new cutter!), Grapes. Stored in an Easy Lunchbox System.
**Update: I had quite a few email and ask about the heart skewers. Amazon used to carry them but I am having trouble finding them anymore … which is sad because I need replacements!
*this post contains affiliate links … which is a fancy way of saying I might get a few pennies from a sale or two. Those pennies go into a jar and when it’s full, I cash out and hit up Starbucks. Mommy likes to drink her coffee alone.
